Hello! WE are Cassie Einolander and Chelsea Garland (Bean), two girls setting sail in a cozy little R.V. named Miss Whippy. With our two little dogs in tow we will be traveling around the United States working with organic growers and builders learning there practices and methods. Follow us along our journey of inspiration and knowledge!

Sept 24th 2011 A Reflection.

Traversing the Oregon countryside has filled my head with many things and my heart with even more. The vibrant colors of fall stand out in full force, bright and flavorful. Winter squash and apples sing their fluorescent pinks and reds and oranges at every pavement side farm stand. The effort put into supporting local agriculture strikes me with endearing inspiration.
I can not decide if the notion of importance surrounding fresh food from a local source has been a trend for as long as heirlooms have been around or if people have just re-mastered the art… I do know however, that California’s chic country communities got nothin’ on the long time farmers and gardeners up here. (no offence guys, its got to start some where I guess)
Along with seed saving and winter squash varieties comes something of a different nature. Although bearing the same impact. There seems to be an obvious shift of consciousness spreading like wild fire. The manner in which people initially react to the two of us is shocking, In a good way. After the welcome the same conversation follows. The pattern is that people are doing very similar things and our paths are colliding in a chatty excited crash.
Re-localizing.
Focusing on health through diet.
Striving for community within community.
I know how cliche and hippie chic this sounds, believe me. I have trained my self to be skeptical of these people dubbed as “woo-woos” So far, my radar has only been triggered once. It was pretty typical considering we were at a Fairy festival.
The heap of this makes me wonder how to transfer the marketing scheme known as the green movement into a more tangible, healthy realm where productive actions are executed for the right reasons. Funny thing is these are all such ancient ideas. Be it organic gardening or cob oven. How did we, as the human organism, move so far from such a practical, spiritually satisfying existence? Was it the industrial revolution? Holy trinity syndrome? The entire concept of a treadmill or deep fryer?
In any case, I assume it is far more suitable to focus on the solution instead of the cause of the problem. I am very grateful to say I am doing that with my Life.
Hi fives, peace and chicken grease, I'm out-y 5000
